Tragic News on UPS Crash: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The number of lives lost resulting from the transport jet which ignited and went down has now reached 13, as confirmed by latest statements.

Official's Statement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ vigil, I received word of a additional fatality that passed away as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” wrote the local official in a social media post. “My heart are with the families, associates and co-workers of all who were killed in this recent tragedy. We will overcome this as one.”

Victims Identified

A statement from UPS named the officers operating the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to all staff member who has been touched and all in our community community – assisting you and ensuring you get the support and assistance you need is our main concern,” the organization’s communication stated.

Investigation Findings

Federal investigators disclosed that the UPS cargo plane’s left wing burst into flames and an engine separated just after departure from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, leading to the plane to fall and explode into a fireball.

The safety agency announced it is examining the jet’s service record, that was in the state for repairs several weeks prior to the crash.

Flight tracking information revealed the plane was on the ground in that location from early September to last week.

“We are knowledgeable that this jet was there in San Antonio,” remarked an investigator on later, not giving a exact time frame. “We will examine all elements of repairs that was completed, even the Texas visit, right up to the day of the journey.”

Recovery of Key Items

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the power plant was discovered on the runway.

The units – known as data containers – were built to survive collision damage and severe heat from infernos, and they looked to be in one piece when found among the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing data from the black boxes.

Jet’s final flight details indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a speed of 210 mph before the crash.

Repair Background

Per Federal Aviation Administration files dated last month, a fracture on a component within the center wing fuel tank demanded maintenance.

The company ST Engineering, which said it supplies airframe maintenance for the carrier’s aircraft and operates a maintenance center in Texas, declined to speak, but stated it would cooperate fully when officials contacted it.

Operations Resume

At the same time, UPS Worldport services resumed last night with its Next Day Air or night sort process, representative Jim Mayer said. All three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also open again.

The UPS package handling facility in this location is the organization’s most significant. The hub employs more than a large number of individuals in the region, manages 300 trips daily and sorts more than four hundred thousand parcels per hour.

Community Support

A candlelight vigil was conducted on the late afternoon of that date by the area Teamsters Union, which represents staff at the aviation hub, the firm’s largest freight center.

The union chapter, which stands for employees, commenced the gathering with a moment of silence at 5.14pm, the estimated time of the incident previously.

“This event was so sudden, so unexpected,” the official spoke to the group of attendees. “No one had a moment to say goodbye to any of those who we have mourned.”
